Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort unveils delicious dishes that boost the body and mind

Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort, the health-focused retreat in downtown Bangkok, is dedicated to creating innovative culinary concepts that help to keep its guests in great shape, both physically and mentally.

To help diners take care of themselves, Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort has created an extensive selection of healthy recipes. The resort’s two restaurants – Tamarind, the elegant all-day dining destination, and Khum Hom, the innovative eatery serving “honest” Thai cuisine – are now inviting guests to discover a range of dishes that are high in vitamins and in minerals, either to eat-in or cook at home.

In collaboration with Chef Gabi Kurz, a global nutritional expert and culinary pioneer, the resort’s restaurants harness ingredients such as ginger and garlic, which strengthen the immune system; berries, which have natural antioxidative power; and nuts, seeds, grains and pulses, which provide nutrients aplenty. Dark vegetables such as broccoli, kale, cabbage and spinach are brimming with goodness, Thailand’s tropical fruit like papayas, pomelos, pomegranates and passionfruit are bursting with vitamins.

At Tamarind, Chef Rajiv Ranjan Singh has carefully constructed a collection of menu items that are stocked with vitamins and minerals. For example, the quinoa and organic pomelo salad is full of iron and Vitamin C, while also having a high fibre content and producing fat-burning enzymes. Alternatively, the organic free-range chicken satay contains turmeric, which is loaded with antioxidants, Thai herbs that can accelerate the metabolism, and lean chicken which is packed with protein.

Guests who want to test their own culinary skills at home can recreate Chef Rajiv’s onion miso soup and seaweed seed crackers. Please find the recipe attached here.

At Khum Hom, which uses fresh local ingredients to create regional Thai cuisine, diners can enjoy many delicious dishes crafted by celebrated Thai chef Ian Kittichai to promote wellbeing. For example, mieng ped (slow-cooked duck leg with roasted chili-palm sugar caramel) contains ginger, which is high in Vitamins B3, C and iron, tom kha talay features seafood and mushrooms in a coconut and turmeric broth, which is a great source of antioxidants, and som chun (Thai citron, lychee, crispy shallots and young ginger) is a traditional dessert that offers a wealth of natural health benefits.
Chef Ian is now inviting home cooks to try making his pla-nuang – an aromatic bowl of steamed grouper with holy basil, chili and lime broth. Please see the recipe attached here.

“We need to eat smarter; it’s important to ensure that everything we consume is supporting and strengthening our bodies, rather than undermining us. At Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort, we strive to remove anything that has the potential to weaken us – white sugar, white flour et cetera – and replace them with produce that can make us stronger. We want to prove that, by combining high-quality and wholesome ingredients, prepared in innovative styles, we can deliver tasty dishes that are also great for the body and brain,” said Chef Gabi.

A good diet is not the only way to stay in shape; Chef Gabi recommends a positive lifestyle with regular exercise, minimal stress and plenty of sleep. Exposing your body to sunlight can also boost body’s levels of Vitamin D. With its holistic wellness concept, including state-of-the-art fitness facilities, bright, naturally-lit spaces, 1.2 acres of lush gardens and century-old trees, Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort is actively helping all its guests to stay fit and healthy – inside and out.
