Urbanscapes 2016 closes with a bang in a massive all-day party
Urbanscapes' two-and-a-half week celebration of the creative arts in the heart of KL is closing with a blowout party on Sunday, May 8 at Urbanscapes House from 11am onwards. This culminates in a street party starting at 4pm, when the festivities flow from Urbanscapes House into scenic Medan Pasar outside and continue all evening.
A knockout lineup of music, comedy, food, street performers and art installations will be set up at different areas around the festival hub. The best part? It’s all free.
Party in a historic square
Indie rock darlings OAG is headlining the Steampunk Stage at Medan Pasar, where all afternoon, a slew of familiar and fresh bands including The Fridays, Fazz, Jaggfuzzbeats, and The OtherSide Orchestra keep up the beat.
Over at the Nasi Lemak Stage, festival goers can feast on comedy from stellar stand-up acts Prakash Daniel, Keren Bala Devan, Brian Tan, Rayza Mukmin, Mat Sabah, Hannan Azlan, Botak and Sulaiman Azmil.
And because there is no throwing a party without an instagrammable set piece, TerryandTheCuz is presenting Cloudland, a balloon art installation made from thousands of multicoloured balloons and LED lights floating up over the historic square throughout the day.
Markets and Tiffin X Urbanscapes at Urbanscapes House
Every weekend of the festival, Urbanscapes House has played host to exciting markets featuring the best of local brands, as well as the festival’s very own food experience, Tiffin X Urbanscapes.
The closing weekend of these themed markets has proudly independent and local fashion vendors on hand to show off their wares: homegrown labels like Anaabu and Cheese Denim, and the much hyped enamel pin makers Pantun Pins.
They will be joined by Urban Decay Cosmetics and Bad Lab, bringing skincare and beauty treats for guys and girls, and portrait painting from Loookis.
As parking around Urbanscapes House is limited, closing party attendees are encouraged to take the LRT or Grab to the venue.

About Urbanscapes 2016
Urbanscapes is one of the longest-running creative arts festivals in Malaysia. Since its inception 14 years ago, the aim of Urbanscapes has always been to bring together Malaysian creative communities from the fields of music, the arts, design, film and other creative disciplines. The festival has grown leaps and bounds, to become international known and attended.
This year, Urbanscapes 2016 will go back to where it all started, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The festival will spread across three weekends (two and a half weeks) in various parts of the city, to take advantage of KL's glorious cityscape, and complement it with some creative shenanigans. We still believe that great things happen when people come together, so join us and be part of this journey.
