Leave it to the Aussies to introduce a unique burger in an overly commercialised joint. Perhaps in an attempt to win customers who are more conscious about how their food affect their environment, this is very much in sync with the 'eat local' global movement, that has seem to hit the more 'cultured' Westerners.
After centuries of conqering, pillaging and wreaking havoc on planet earth, Western civilisation are now only realising the wage of their rampant consumerism, thus imposing practices such as 'eat local' to everbody. McDonald's Australia is one such establishment to subscribe to this fledgling practice by adding lamb burger (Australia being one of the biggest lamb producer in the world) to their menu, albeit at a limited time.
The burger itself was not half bad. Aesthetically it looks nothing like their posters, i.e not nearly as tall. But great effort is still needed to hold on to the burger, as well as trying to part your mouth bigger than usual.
The lamb patty was fragrant with various herbs and lightly spiced, an added surprise is the addition of sunny side up. A little bit burnt at the edges gives it a nice crunch. The lettuce has a nice crisp while the bun has a healthy disguise of generous amounts of wheatgerm sprinkled over the top.
Of course the bun does not scream of wholemeal, as the top crust would otherwise suggest
Overall, it is still a nice burger, considering its coming out of a mass produced conveyer belt. Also, it is nice to visit global franchise to compare how does each fare compared to your own backyard.
