The launch of South East Asia's leading 4G high speed broadband pioneer, Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (P1) in Sabah started from Kota Kinabalu city, represents another "one great step for P1 and another giant leap for the 4G wireless broadband movement in Malaysia. According to Mr.Michael Lai, CEO of P1, the company has plan to cover approximately 80% of households in KK in the period of 6 months time with their huge investment RM30 million for East Malaysia area. P1 is aiming their goal to deliver high performance and affordable high speed broadband for all. P1 would continue to cover more areas in Kota Kinabalu, followed by Sandakan and Tawau. By year end, P1 would also be introducing their cutting-edge 4G services to Kuching.

According to YB Datuk Joseph Salang, government’s aim to provide broadband services to all urban area and rural area. They would like to see a further raise of household broadband numbers up to 75% by year of 2015, with a fulled confident they will achieve this target from the support of private sector.
