Bazaar Ramadan @ Tuaran
The holy month of Ramadan is upon us again and during this time, Ramadan Bazaars are set up in various locations offering buka puasa (breaking of fast) fare. About an hour drive from KK, the Ramadan Bazaar in Tuaran is well worth a visit for tourists and a great opportunity to sample traditional and modern Mulsim fare during the month of Ramadan.
Colourful tubs of drinks and trays of sweet desserts
By 3pm, the tents have been set up, the cooking fires started, varieties of food has started to line the narrow isle of low canopies. The hawkers are already working up a sweat as they prepare to open for business under the unrelenting afternoon sun. Stir-fried Noodle, Rice, and Cooked Dishes
Chicken Rice (Price starting from RM3.50 onwards)
Assorted Kuihs and Pastries
For hygienic purposes, most of the Kuihs and Pastries were stored in the containers. You can find delicious local kuihs such as curry puffs, panjaram, ondeh-ondeh, kuih seri muka, pulut panggang, donuts and ketupat.
Pecal Sambal and Sweet Soup
Local Cakes
Because there’s a lot of competition, the stall owners each have a rhyme or catch phrase, which they almost sing to attract attention. It gives the market a lively atmosphere and makes people smile, even though the heat under the canopies wants to melt that smile right off.
Burger Stall
Colourful Sweet Delicacy
Grilled Chicken Wings and Chicken Bishop
Smoke is spotted from various BBQ pits cooking chicken, fish and satay at a section of the bazaar.
Grilled Fish
Fried Food
You will also discover multiple stalls offering fried food such as murtabak, popiah, banana fritters, keropok lekor and kuih terang bulan.
