The Carlsberg Diamond idol 2012 is officially launched at the press conference on Friday, 20th July 2012. Since 2011, the Carlsberg Diamond Idol has become the largest and finest singing competition in East Malaysia. The Carlsberg Diamond Idol organized by Carlsberg is aimed at discovering new talents and encourage budding singers by providing them a platform to be heard and perform before a panel of internationally renowned professional judges. The 2012 edition will offer more than RM30,000 in cash prizes!

Carlsberg Diamond Idol running in its second year is hoped to emulate the previous contest of unearthing talented singers. With six areas in Sabah and Sarawak, the battle for supremacy begins in Sandakan and Miri, and subsequently in Tawau, Sibu, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. These locations will hold a closed door auditions at selected outlets where psrticipants will have to perform 2 songs in two different languages. "This year the grand finalists will be going through special classes with our gurus. A training camp is organized where the singers will be able to inprove on their singing skills by getting pointers from the professionals in the industry," said Keneth.
At the press conference, the Carlsberg Diamond Idol 2012 judges were introduced to the media. The judging line up includes Stephen Lim, a well known producer who has collaborated with Hong Kong artistes like Jacky Cheung, Eason Chen and Daniel Wu. He is also responsible in producing the jingle for Carlsberg Diamond Idol which will be aired on the local radio airwaves during the month long campaign. Carlsberg Diamond Idol 2012 is also a boost with the star studded line up of judging panel. Nikki Palikat, the well known Sabahan songstress who made it big after the first season of Malaysia Idol will be seating on the panel alongside with Stephen. Another star attraction is Eric Lim, who won the Astro Talent Quest competition in 2001. More about the training camp, the twelve finalist will go through a series of workshop like team building, vocal and dance classes. Professor Dr. Fred Chin will lead the training camp as the motivational trainer. Victor Lee, a well known local singer and host is the vocal trainer. He will be assisted by dance trainer Skyler Liew, a well known dancer and dance in instructor in Sabah.
