Grand Opening of Shogun Japanese Buffet Restaurant by Saisaki @ SOHO KL, Solaris Mont Kiara
Invitation to the "Grand Opening of Shogun @ Soho KL, Solaris Mont Kiara on the 17th Nov 2011". If I have to describe Shogun's latest outlet in one sentence, it would be this: A massive restaurant offering a scrumptious healthy Japanese buffet with a little twist. My reasons for saying this are as follows. Shogun by Saisaki @ Soho KL, Solaris Mont Kiara is Shogun's 5th and biggest outlet. Its floor size is 29,000 square feet with the capacity to sit 500 - 600 guests at one time. Approximately 65% of the menu is Japanese cuisine but for those who are not that big a fan of Japanese food, there are other options. The buffet selection with more than 200 varieties of new delicious dishes, offering Chinese, Western and Thai dishes as well.

Grand Opening Ceremony
100 kg Whole Maguro Fish (Fresh from Japan)
To celebrate the opening of its 5th and biggest outlet, Shogun flew in a whole tune fish weighing 100 kg at a cost of about RM 10,000. This freshly flown (and very expensive) tuna was delicately sliced and served right in front of guests in the form of fresh sashimi slices, maki and sushi showcasting Shogun's pride, Chef Zainurin bin Mohd Salleh's food creativities. And, guess who was invited to sample this delicious, fresh and expensive tuna fish? ME!
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by Dato' Michael Chong and Datin Chong
It was indeed a great pleasure and an honour to have been invited for this event. The event was attended by many national media representatives like NTV7 and Bernama. To be seated amongst the big guns, was indeed an honour.

Some very interesting facts about Shogun:
1. Chef Zainurin is an expert in Japanese cuising with 23 years of experience locally and internationally. He not only cooks and prepares the meal but also manages the restaurant. He decides the menu, manages daily budgets, trains staff and ensures consistent quality in the outlet.
Chef Usami Yasurosan (From Japan)
2. Shogun is an innovator in a few signature dishes like the Marble Goby Fish aka Bamboo Fish which is prepared with the chef's special recipe. Guests could sample up to 130 varieties of Japanese delicacies at its outlet.
3. Shogun is planning to open at least another 5 - 7 outlets nationwide by 2014. This includes outlets in the Klang Valley and PJ areas, Penang, JB, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
4. Shogun has invested between RM 1 - RM 1.5 million in advertising and marketing. The strength of its business comes from its highly efficient and innovative sales and marketing department which has helped increased Shogun's profits by 50%.
5. Until the end of this year, Shogun is running a promotional campaign in which, birthday boys and girls (of all ages!) get to dine free.
6. Also, senior citizens dining at Shogun will get a 50% discount every time they dine.
Phew! The list doesn't just stop there. There are more. The Grand Saisaki Group which runs the Shogun restaurants has a strong key player steering the group towards great success. He is none other than the Managing Director of Grand Saisaki Group, Dato' Michael Chong Choong Leong. Having a passion for good food, he has travelled around the world and tasted various delicacies. His favourite remains the Asian cuisine. Since taking over as Managing Director, he has set a goal to expand the brand nationwide and turn it into a household name when it comes to Japanese buffet.
In line with Dato' Michael Chong's goal, the Group plans to expand its business model by introducing Shogun Express which is currently in its planning stages. Shogun Express will be a Japanese fast food outlet with prices starting from RM 6.90, complimenting its chain of restaurants further by offering quick Japanese food to Japanese cuisine lovers. Just thinking about it makes me excited. Think about it: delicious, fresh, health Japanese food on the go at a reasonable price! I sure am looking forward to Shogun Express's launch.
