More About Subang ParadeSubang Parade is the first shopping centre in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. It is located near Wisma Consplant (formerly Wisma Tractors until 1995) and Empire Subang. Its anchor tenant is the Parkson Department store. It is one of the most exclusive shopping centres in Malaysia and a household name amongst the community of Subang Jaya and beyond.
In the early 1990s, it was well recognized as one of the longest shopping malls in Malaysia. Subang Parade was constructed between 1987 and 1988. It was officially opened by Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah of Selangor on 13 August 1988. Between 1998 and 2003, Subang Parade was managed by The Lion Group. In 2003, Subang Parade was sold to The Hektar Group before being sold into the Hektar REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust). The shopping centre consists of 1 level of service tunnel which spans the whole length of shopping centre. Above that is a basement carpark. The retail floors consist of a Lower Ground, Ground and First Floor. The unique aspect of the shopping centre is the interior layout. It was designed to have a good visibility of all tenants within the shopping centre.
In 2004, there were refurbishment phases which started with the creation of Digital One, Subang Jaya's first dedicated IT centre. Later, the washrooms were fully renovated and was selected as the first suburban shopping centre to be awarded recognition for best washroom design in Malaysia. 2006 was the year Subang Parade started its full refurbishment. Subang Parade now spots a clean white theme to reflect a new exclusive image. Subang Parade is also the pioneer of using epoxy flooring and took the carpark from a dark and unexciting one into a bright and colourful example for many shopping centres to follow. Recognition of the successful refurbishment and the earlier achievements for the washrooms and Digital One goes to the Centre Manager at that time, Anthony Dylan. He was known to be a prime mover of new ideas for a refreshed Subang Parade. Subang Parade also won Silver in the International Council of Shopping Centre's Asia Awards for its refurbishment.
It is well-connected to the cities of Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam and the townships of Petaling Jaya such as Bandar Sunway, Kota Damansara, Bandar Utama, Damansara Utama and Mutiara Damansara via a network of major highways, namely the Federal Highway, the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), the North-South Expressway Central Link and the Damansara-Puchong Expressway. The mall is located opposite to a mosque, Masjid Darul Ehsan. It is a walking distance between Carrefour, Empire Subang and the Subang Jaya Komuter station.
